  • Vaccine Exemptions Are A Necessary Part of Religious Toleration

Likely to be lost amid all the liberal preening about the mandatory vaccination bill signed into law by Gov. Andrew Cuomo last week is the fact that, during the period covered by the so-called “epidemic,” not a single person has died from a confirmed case of measles in the state of New York. The sun and moon have not dropped from the sky and the red-splotched corpses of thousands of victims do not litter the streets of Brooklyn.

Nor are they likely to do so. Everyone involved knows this. The new law is legislation of the very worst kind — passed in a fit of self-aggrandizing indignation and meant to affect a single group of people who are all but named. I am referring to the minority of Orthodox Jews in New York who have refused to vaccinate their children and whose objections were, until last week, granted specific legal protection. This is not a question of so-called “association” or “public accommodations.” No one is demanding the right to send unvaccinated children to public schools, nor are the post-faith bobos of today’s Williamsburg likely to send their own children, if they have any, to receive an Orthodox education.

The new law is about power and control for their own sake.

Let me be clear at the outset. I am a father of three small children, all of whom have received measles and other vaccinations. I do not oppose the consensus such as it is about the necessity of all these shots, though I do find it absurd that in many of our hospitals they begin before a mother has so much as nursed her child for the first time. I could quibble by pointing out that when I was a child in the not-so-distant 1990s we got less than half the number of vaccinations said to be the sole bulwark against various public health emergencies today — what was so wrong with getting the chicken pox, I wonder? — or that my daughters who were both born in Virginia were required to receive many more shots than their brother has in Michigan. Could it be that we have defined “necessary” in this context down the way we have virtually everything else? But this is irrelevant to my real argument.

I do not share or even quite understand the objections made by those Orthodox who refuse to have their children vaccinated against measles and other diseases. The content of these objections is of very little interest to me because I am not Jewish.

But I do believe in religious toleration — the rather antique notion that one can freely confess the falsehood of a sect or a doctrine while believing that its blameless adherents ought to be allowed to do as they wish.

It is odd to me, too, that so few have discussed the way in which the coverage of measles cases in New York makes effortless use of tropes about Jews as somehow unclean or contaminated and thus requiring a mandatory purification by the authorities.

This is not the first time that black hats and long beards have become outward signifiers of an unspeakable interior pollution.

These do not exhaust my concerns. There was a time when one could expect a certain degree of epistemic humility from good liberals who had read their Thomas Kuhn. No longer. Science has joined “the economy” as one of those first-order goods whose pursuit we are told cannot be questioned. The ease with which all moral and prudential questions are being subsumed into the rhetoric of “science,” “health,” and “safety” should worry all persons of humane views and skeptical temperament.

As I write this, many of New York’s yeshivas have been closed until further notice. This will not end with vaccines.

Health is a remarkably fluid concept in the modern liberal imagination. A day will come when refusing to affirm the latest fashionable nonsense about gender theory will be considered a threat to “health” by the relevant medical authorities. Catholic schools will be shut down because they do not instruct children in the art of contraception. In British Columbia it is already considered child abuse for a parent to refuse to allow naïve adolescents to undergo elective hormonal therapy — or even to refer to one’s own children by their given names and the pronouns associated with persons of their sex. Only a fool would believe that this could never happen in this country, or that many of our progressives are not already in favor of it.

My prayers, and those of every person of faith and good will, belong with New York’s Orthodox Jews, who have become the victims of a fideistic campaign of persecution.

  • How to Submit an Immunization Exemption in Idaho

Idaho Parents have a right to OPT their children out of some (or all) the state-mandated vaccines for daycare and school. There are 3 exemptions for the state medical, religious and ‘other’. Many schools will not disclose this fact, some schools will demand a form signed and completed by parents. This is NOT required by the statute. A signed parental statement of objection is all that is necessary for a parent to provide the school in order to invoke the right of vaccine exemption.

No shots, no school is simply not true!

Parent Signed Statement of Exemption from Vaccine Mandate

This is an example of text used by a parent submitting an vaccine exemption statement.

I/We, _________________, pursuant to Idaho Code 39-4802 (2) and IDAPA 16.02.15.110 I/we submit this signed statement to ______________ school officials objecting to immunizations on religious OR other grounds.

*Keep in mind you don’t have to clarify whether the exemption is for religious or other reasons. Any extra information they ask from you is used for marketing, tracking with the ultimate goal of removing the liability-free vaccine exemptions.

    Idaho statute 39–4802(2) permits a parent/guardian:

    1. The right to choose whether to vaccinate their child.
    2. The right to opt-out without explanation of objection. This form, created by the Health Department is NOT REQUIRED by Idaho statute. Its requirement contradicts the statute which says clearly,

“Any minor child whose parent or guardian has submitted a signed statement to school officials stating their objections on religious or other grounds shall be exempt from the provisions of this chapter.”

After 3 years of persistence on the part of Health Freedom Idaho the form has been adjusted and Instructions to Parents regarding vaccine exemptions published by the Health and Welfare Department reflect this accurately. < See the new administrative rules for schools and daycares

Health Freedom Idaho is resolved in stopping the deliberate attempt of the schools to violate parental authority to make health care choices and to protect the privacy of the medical information for their children. • KIVI6 Interviews Health Freedom Idaho on Vaccine Exemptions

Each of these parents are advocates for informed consent, which starts with researching vaccines. Executive Director Miste Gardner-Karlfeldt along with Board Member Dr Rosie Gallegos-Main, and Executive Committee Member/Toxicologist Ashley Cates were interviewed by KIVI 6 On Your Side – ABC Boise/Nampa, Idaho regarding vaccine exemptions.

Unfortunately, KIVI edited out the science that toxicologist Ashley Cates shared with the interviewer. Ashley’s ‘motherly intuition’ lead her to deeply research vaccines and what she found was shocking.

I immersed myself in the world of vaccines and what people were saying and sharing about them. I read stories of vaccine injury, I learned about ingredients, I found out how common it is that parents are treated poorly by doctors for their hesitation to vaccinate, and so much more. Some of what I saw posted in these groups was shocking to me, upsetting, and most of the time sounded ludicrous. There were times I rolled my eyes and assumed the information I just read was nothing but a hoax – and then I realized later that it was true.

What information did this toxicologist use to make an informed vaccine decision for her children? It’s all right here: Researching Vaccines: Where to Start

Learn more about vaccines from Ashley’s un-aired interview with KBOI.

<Links to the science backing up her statements can be found here>

“Whether you’re pro-vaccine, anti-vaccine, or fall somewhere in the middle, the questions you need to ask yourselves are as follows: Do you want to live in a world, where you cannot freely refuse a medical procedure that carries risk of injury or death? I’m not questioning your comfort level with today’s vaccine schedule, because today’s vaccine schedule will change. New vaccines and additional doses are added all the time. Children today receive as many as 49 doses of 14 vaccines before they reach age six, which is roughly 12 times higher than the number of vaccines administered to children back in 1940.

With more than 220 new vaccines in the developmental pipeline for children and adults…and no end in sight..the question you must ask yourself is ARE YOU CERTAIN you will be 100% comfortable with vaccines that are added to the mandated list in the future?

If you say that yes, you’re comfortable, then you’re either:

    a) not expecting to be a parent or grandparent

    b) don’t have to worry about it because your kids are grown and out of the house

    c) lying to prove a point.

No critical thinker, no honest person, would ever sign off on the sight-unseen vaccine schedule of the future. And yet that’s what you’re doing when you condemn the people who are fighting for your right to refuse. YOU have the right to refuse, should you ever choose to use it, because the very “anti-vaccine” people you demonize have been fighting for us all.

Right now, the burden of “herd immunity” falls on small children, but that is changing. Vaccine manufacturers see an untapped market in adult vaccines and are coming for you next. <Learn the FACTS about herd immunity>

What will you do if your state, your employer, or your insurance company forces you to get a vaccine that you simply don’t want? It hasn’t happened to you yet, but if the right to refuse is eroded, it will happen to you sooner than you might think.

Who then will you turn to? Your legislators who get campaign donations from pharmaceutical companies? The CDC that has former pharma executives sitting on the board? Who will you turn to if you ever want to say no? There will be no one.

Once we enter the slippery slope of removing and individual’s right to refuse medical procedures that carry a risk of injury or death, once we remove an individual’s right to speak for him/herself and his/her children, we open ourselves up to an insidious new era, where other drugs and other procedures can be mandated.”
    – by Magnolia Crawford

There’s more information on other aspects of the vaccine issue, such as the lack of proper testing of vaccines, the major flaws with the studies performed by the manufacturers, and their lack of liability. There’s the issue of waning protection or having no protection at all (vaccine failure)… There’s post-vaccination viral shedding and asymptomatic transmission, antibodies not indicating immunity, germ theory vs. terrain theory, Th1 and Th2 immune responses, etc. You will come across all of this if you can make it a priority to invest the time.  CONS OF VACCINATING

    Shalee Brindley

Are any of you who are advocating for vaccines aware that most vaccine inserts state..
“This vaccine has not been been evaluated for its carcinogenic ,(cancer causing), mutagenic, (ability to mutate genes) potentials, or for impairment in fertility.

Doesn’t sound like they have been proven safe to me. So what happens when an entire generation of children can no longer reproduce. Sorry, they said they were safe? Will that somehow make it better? Tread lightly. You advocate for mandatory vaccination and you will not have a choice when they decide to add whatever vaccines to the schedule they deem necessary. You may be fine with the schedule now, but wait until they add a few more. Wait until your grandchildren are receiving over 100 vaccines before their 18th birthday. 74 doses is already too much for me. I will not set my child on fire to keep yours warm.

Thank you for  opening up this discussion. Looking forward to a balanced story. Informed Consent is the cornerstone of medicine, we must advocate for this.

    Melodie Brown
California made it mandatory for vaccines 2 years ago. Thank god I don’t live there. This is a slippery slope….This means you have no freedom of choice for your child’s health and wellness.

  • Faith Healing Exemption

    Faith Healing Exemption

Idaho’s contentious faith-healing exemption statute, allows families to cite religious reasons for medical decisions without fear of being charged with neglect or abuse. In recent years there has been a push from out of state vaccine advocate using a vocal minority organization to change this statute, thereby allowing the prosecution of parents who do not use ‘standard treatment’ protocol for their children.

Health Freedom Idaho doesn’t take a position on the “faith healing” aspect per se as much as a government mandate and their involvement of the health/medical care of children. The government should not have the power to determine a parents choice of care over the child.

Year after year, legislation has been brought up by an organization to force parental compliance to state standards of medical care. Each year, legislators have responded saying the protection of religious freedom and parental authority must be upheld in Idaho. The statistics from the governor’s task force to determine causes of death for Idaho children revealed that more children die under a doctor’s care than those who have never received treatment.

Where is the Pressure to Change Statue Coming From?

The Faith Healing Exemption discussion and the subsequent work group sessions were driven by the media campaign founded upon a false narrative and bogus statistics which has been promoted by an out-of-state mandatory vaccination statute advocate. Ultimately the nature of the driving force behind this movement revealed the practice to force compliance of government mandated treatments by CPS and Health and Welfare.

These are the THREE PRIMARY CONCERNS which lead to the involvement of Health Freedom Idaho.

    1. A False Narrative is being used to campaign for a law change. Unsubstantiated statistics are being used to manipulate public opinion.

The “Let Them Live” media campaign is driven by a false narrative of an Idaho woman who claims her rare heart condition was not treated by her parent’s involvement in a religious sect that refuses all medical treatment for their children. Mariah Walton’s mother has refuted the claim that she was trying to treat her  daughter’s heart condition with prayer. Mariah’s parents were UNAWARE of the rare heart defect. They used holistic care, chiropractic care as well as prayer to provide for their daughter’s asthmatic childhood symptoms. Bruce Wingate, April Hoy and other leaders of the campaign have been made aware that Mariah’s condition should not be construed as ‘faith healing’, they continue to promote the false narrative for political gain.  Sara Walton Brady’s testimony at Child At Risk:Faith Healing Exemption Workgroup

Recently Bruce Wingate stated on his website that due to the fact they were unsuccessful in the Legislature to pass laws they should  manipulate public opinion. Walking three graveyards in Idaho, their organization gathered names, birth and death dates and tout that these children would have lived had they been to a doctor. <see their spreadsheet> Their own website reveals plans to hire the media, created emotionally driven campaign based on false statistics, in hope to pressure the Legislature to change the statute reducing parental authority in the lives of our children.

    2. Paul Offit’s involvement in changing Idaho’s exemption. (see our Article on Offit’s Campaign in Idaho) See commenting that parents who don’t comply with his opinion on vaccines should have their children removed by the State.
Offit, an outspoken promoter of vaccine mandates, has recently prompting the removal of parental authority claiming that a child should be removed from parents and forced into government mandated vaccines. Offits video

    3. Revelation of Ada County Prosecutor’s opinion that children should be treated by force under threat of CPS.
This revelation is most disturbing to Health Freedom Idaho members and to Idaho’s citizens. Loving Parents who actively seek health and healing through means that don’t line up with the AMA are being forced by the courts to follow a standard of treatment that isn’t guaranteed to be effective or safe. Watch her testimony: https://youtu.be/Y4dTXtkVya8

Idaho citizens are liberty minded individuals who realize that our state is great because of our willingness to protect the freedoms of others even if their opinions differ than our. Our legislators are intelligent and hard working and won’t be duped by false news and media manipulation.
