How do we band together to strengthen the culture of freedom in Idaho through the business community, which is currently being used to divert our attention away from the responsibility of the government’s implementation of unconstitutional policy?
Let’s answer that question together!

Do you believe that small businesses in Idaho are being squeezed by government overreach through mandates and unlawful policy?
Is a mask similar to wearing a bike helmet? I am seeing way too many analogies from pro-mask parents, saying that they are just like bike helmets, seat belts or steel-capped boots. This is nonsense. Let’s talk about the medical aspects of mask-wearing, not the peripheral aspects of social distancing, isolation, etc.
If you wear a surgical mask or a homemade mask of cotton …, especially in an enclosed space with other people, like a classroom or bus, this is what happens:
1) the air heats up and humidity rises. The mask rapidly becomes moist with your breath and as a result, the viruses, bacteria, and fungi which accumulate on the outside have a nice culture medium to grow in, and which can be breathed in, as you force air through the moist mess.
2) Constantly touching, or shifting the mask to attend to itches, or general discomfort contaminates the mask with anything on your fingers.
3) you start rebreathing your own carbon dioxide, which results in making your blood acidic. This can result in kidney dysfunction among a long list of other health issues well-proven and discussed in the medical literature.
4) your intake of oxygen is reduced and your brain doesn’t function as it should. These factors have been extensively discussed in the medical literature because those effects are even seen in the theatre when surgeons wear surgical masks, which cannot stop viruses but are principally there to prevent surgeons from splashes of blood from the patient and putting any droplet onto the patient. Because this is an issue in theatres, for both nurses and doctors when surgeons and nurses wear masks, this is what OSH has set up.
a) extra oxygen must be pumped INTO theatre to compensate for the oxygen decrease in breathing
b) the air pressure in theatre is negative which means that while oxygen is being pumped INTO theatre, the air in the theatre is pumped OUT of the room so that no air recirculates which keeps the air clean, so generally, air is pumped in from underneath and sucked out through the ceiling.
c) The humidity is also kept very low so that the surgeons can stay as sweat-free as possible, and the mask lasts longer.
d) Temperature is low and controlled.
e) because of breath moisture getting trapped in the fabric, the minute a mask becomes damp, that results in any virus or bacteria being trapped there, and becoming a Petrie dish.
It’s inevitable that breathing in through fabric will force some of that accumulating moisture with multiplying bacteria, fungi, viruses, etc, into your mouth resulting in infection, THEREFORE in theatre, the MINUTE a mask becomes even slightly moist, it is changed out and a new dry one put on. So a surgeon can go through a lot of masks during one operation. And if you are wondering why surgeons emerge from theatre and the first thing they do is rip the mask off, it’s because the very act of wearing a mask is incredibly tiring.
Surgeons hate wearing them, not for any of the above reasons, but because you end up touching your face to relieve the tickles and itches, or adjusting them because they are not comfortable. Masks are a distraction and a thought impediment…
Nowhere do I see any suggestions that buses, classrooms, or other enclosed spaces should be subject to the OSH regulations designed to keep surgeons safe. So essentially they are saying that children can do what surgeons can’t and that in an uncontrolled environment, masks are perfectly safe. Masks are not safe, and it’s also ludicrous to expect children to observe the sorts of hygiene requirements that surgeons have been trained to adhere to. And we aren’t even talking about the fact that cloth masks and surgical masks don’t stop infection – which is the government message of masking up. As far as I know, none of the above apply to bike helmets, car seat belts or steel-capped boots.
None of those things is an irritant, and neither do they change, in ANY way, the biochemical balance in the body or have the potential to result in serious staph skin infections, and an increase in respiratory pathogens as a result of breathing through the developing Petrie dish in front of your face. Masks have the potential to create serious issues for adults and children. Next time you go to buy that $52.00 box of masks make sure you read the warning on the side of the box that says that these masks cannot protect you from covid. And please rethink these faulty analogies, because it’s vital that people understand the facts so that they can avoid cognitive assumptions and biases.
The burning question: How do we reconcile private property rights and civil liberties?
On any given day at any given moment, I can debate both sides of this argument. I have been driving myself batty debating myself in my brain. I decided to reach out to a few friends for a healthy discussion on this topic, hoping to find some peace by planting my feet firmly on principle. After these discussions and considering their points, I found that it sounded much like the debate I was already having with myself.
I’ll share these points with you and then tell you where I finally ended up and why I feel more passionate than ever that we can both support small businesses and also stand tall in the freedom of our civil liberties.
Private Property Rights
Remember the baker who didn’t want to bake a wedding cake for a lesbian couple? Patriots were frustrated by the supreme court ruling. They believed that business owners should be able to refuse service. If we stand on the liberty that private property rights support, then the same thing can be said for business owners requiring masks.
Some business owners see an unmasked face as a threat to their business and customers, and while some may not agree that a “bare face” is a threat, the business owner’s rights to protect their business should not be denied.
My question became, “Do private property rights usurp my religious freedom and right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness?”
As a Christian, I believe the Bible when it says that I am made in the image of God. Given that, I believe it is my religious right to shine that image to the world. I believe that He breathed the breath of life into humanity which should not be hindered.
I certainly would not feel happy nor free to wear a mask, which science shows me is detrimental to my health. I have a vascular, autoimmune disease, so it is definitely not in my best interest to breathe in my own pathogens and carbon dioxide.
This condition leads me to research public places of accommodation. A public place of accommodation is a place that offers goods and services to the general public, such as a restaurant that is open to the public. Federal and state laws protect designated groups from discrimination in places of public accommodations, based on the premise that everyone is entitled to enjoy the public accommodation’s goods and services on an equal basis. https://civilrights.findlaw.com/civil-rights-overview/public accommodations-equal-rights.html
If a public place of accommodation can not discriminate, are they discriminating against me if I don’t want to wear a mask?
With the CDC, FDA, ADA, and OSHA coming together in unison where does that leave civil liberties?
The sooner we stop relying on the government to ‘give us our rights‘, the sooner we will know what it is like to be free. When you give up your liberties to the government, they always come back to you in a smaller package and eventually will be taken from you. Stop giving them up in the first place, and maybe we can avoid these debacles.
So how did I finally reconcile that businesses should stand up for their private property rights while those of us who want to live mask free stand up for our civil liberties?
As I drilled down to the heart of our current problem, it became clear who is at fault for this frustration in our free market. Did we ever see business owners force mask-wearing during flu season, for example? No! That’s because they want to stay open, make a living, and feed their families like the rest of us.
Our elected government has interfered with private property rights and has ultimately driven a shaft into the spokes of the wheels of capitalism. The globalist’s best dream would be for the private citizen to turn against small businesses and further assault their private property rights by attacking them for following the government’s unconstitutional edicts.
In my opinion, it is better to support the small business owner by educating them about their rights and standing with them when the “mask police” come knocking. We can use the sad and limping remainder of our free market to push back on this global reset by locking arms with fellow liberty-loving business owners by purchasing their goods and services.
At the same time, we must hold our elected accountable.
The governor declared the state of emergency when the numbers clearly show there is no pandemic. Let’s not forget that he has the ability to rescind the state of emergency.
The legislature should hold him accountable for spending money he does not have the right to spend, and for creating a law he had no right to create. He should be impeached, which they can do by passing Articles of Impeachment. The legislature can also cut funding to the board which seems to me like an appropriate request of your representative.
It is our boards of health that have way too much authority given to them in 39-414. HFI will bring a bill this legislative session to give power back to the people, and the citizens must rally in their cry for its hearing and passage.
Educate and SUPPORT Small Business
They also have the comfort of knowing they can defy the orders and afford to pay any fines that come their way while the small businesses can not. It’s the small business owners who are desperate to keep their doors open that need education and support. In my opinion, we need to educate, build relationships, and stand with the small business owners while holding the elected accountable. Let’s not forget that it is the elected, beginning with Governor Little declaring the State of Emergency.
Now the district health departments unlawfully create mandates that have created an authoritarian nightmare. It is counterproductive for us to punish the business owner who is desperate to make sure they can feed their families and keep the lights.
Capitalism Works
I witnessed the free market at work on Black Friday. The wineries that I attempted to visit in Garden City required masks and were empty, while Caldwell’s wineries do not require masks and had plenty of business. Guess who got my money?
I made sure to visit three of my favorite wineries in Garden City just so that they had to tell me of their mask policy and deny me entry. I kindly educated them but firmly stood my ground. I want these business owners to feel the sting of losing business and give them a clue as to why their rooms are empty. Maybe they will see that Caldwell wineries are thriving, and if they want to be able to pay their bills they will loosen their mask requirements.
Boise’s streets felt like a ghost town on what should have been one of the biggest shopping days of the year, while the Nampa streets were packed with cars trying to park at the shopping centers. Interestingly enough, shoppers were wearing masks for the most part, but they are still choosing to spend their money in a town that is not requiring them.
I would like to see us continue to support businesses and cities that stand for liberty. Nothing we say will speak as loudly as the dollars we spend. Divide and conquer is a historically effective tactic that I hope we don’t fall prey to. Let’s unite with small businesses who will stand against the authoritarian dictators who wish to restrict them with mandates that will eventually cause them to close their doors.
Let’s financially support small businesses that will defend our civil liberties by purchasing our goods and services through them, giving capitalism a chance to right the wrongs thrust upon us by an overreaching government. Let’s educate the police and ask them to hold to their oath and defend the constitution. Let’s hold our elected accountable and demand change.
Educate our Police, Sheriff and Community
We can also educate our police and sheriff departments. They are supporting only one set of laws, and we the people must educate them.
Many of us have spent time genuinely educating the small businesses that are important to our daily lives. The Target, Walgreens, and Costcos of the world don’t care about our rights. They are happy to participate in the tyranny because they will ultimately benefit as the small businesses crumble under the boot’s weight on their neck.
Idaho Code and Constitutional Guarantees
Pursuant to 46-1008 (2):
“No state of disaster emergency may continue for longer than thirty (30) days unless the governor finds that it should be continued for another thirty (30) days or any part thereof. “
The Governor has written extensions to the State of Emergency for 9 months, far longer than the statutorily allowable 60 days. Does this make all orders based on an ’emergency’ void after the 60th day?
The Idaho Constitution details certain human rights, which are protected in our Republic:
INALIENABLE RIGHTS OF MAN. All men are by nature free and equal and have certain inalienable rights, among which are enjoying and defending life and liberty; acquiring, possessing, and protecting property; pursuing happiness, and securing safety.
POLITICAL POWER INHERENT IN THE PEOPLE. All political power is inherent in the people. Government is instituted for their equal protection and benefit…
GUARANTY OF RELIGIOUS LIBERTY. The exercise and enjoyment of religious faith and worship shall forever be guaranteed; and no person shall be denied any civil or political right, privilege, or capacity on account of his religious opinions….. No person shall be required to attend or support any ministry or place of worship, religious sect or denomination, or pay tithes against his consent; nor shall any preference be given by law to any religious denomination or mode of worship…
RIGHT OF ASSEMBLY. The people shall have the right to assemble in a peaceable manner, to consult for their common good; to instruct their representatives, and to petition the legislature for the redress of grievances.
UNREASONABLE SEARCHES AND SEIZURES PROHIBITED. The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures shall not be violated…
RESERVED RIGHTS NOT IMPAIRED. This enumeration of rights shall not be construed to impair or deny other rights retained by the people.
Idaho Code 39-9003 Health Freedom Act:
(2) It is hereby declared that the public policy of the state of Idaho, consistent with our constitutionally recognized and inalienable rights of liberty, is that every person within the state of Idaho is and shall be free to choose or decline to choose any mode of securing health care services without penalty or threat of penalty.
(3) The policy stated herein shall not be applied to impair any right of contract related to the provision of health care services to any person or group.
Idaho Code 39-9004:
ENFORCEMENT.(1) No public official, employee, or agent of the state of Idaho or any of its political subdivisions, shall act to impose, collect, enforce, or effectuate any penalty in the state of Idaho that violates the public policy set forth in section 39-9003(2), Idaho Code. The attorney general shall take such action as is provided in section 67-1401(15), Idaho Code, in the defense or prosecution of rights protected under this act.
As local and state governments around the nation debate legislation mandating masks, let’s review what we know about the danger of the new corona virus, the state of any health emergency, asymptomatic spread, and the impact of mask-wearing.
Contact information for Idaho Health Districts. Most Districts are meeting in July to discuss and vote on mask mandates for Idaho. It is critical that the public voices their concerns about the lack of scientific evidence of the effectiveness of masks and the obvious decrease in mortality for this virus. The CDC claims that testing doesn’t represent cases as a person can test positive numerous times. We should be focusing on the decrease in mortality rates as testing increases but the number of deaths has not.
There is no health emergency – deaths are declining and hospital bed utilization is low
The whole purpose of the lockdown and other measures was to flatten the curve so as not to overwhelm our hospital systems and despite media reports of rising cases, deaths and hospitalizations continue to trend down having peaked in late April. (See graphic below.)
At this point “the curve” in Idaho is non-existent with CDC estimating 70 beds with Covid-19 patients representing 1.7% of available beds, based on 80% of hospital reporting.
We cannot determine whether these are patients who went to the hospital from Covid-19 or for another reason and then tested positive. After some calls, I was told that St. Lukes in Idaho, one of our biggest hospital chains, is testing everyone who is admitted to the hospital or comes in for a procedure. St. Alphonsus (the other big change) is only testing pre-surgery. This means a patient could go in for a heart condition and test positive, then be counted as a Covid-19 case.
Up to 60% of all people already have background immunity due to previous coronavirus infections which are the common cold.
The median age of those who died is over 80 years and only 4% of those had no serious underlying conditions. The age and risk profile of the deaths corresponds to normal mortality patterns.
Blaine County, ID, one of the nations HOTTEST SPOTS making national news for weeks, has reported 5 deaths from Covid-19 out of over 5000 cases. That equals a fatality rate of 0.1% – the same as the normal seasonal flu.
Asymptomatic Spread
On June 8th, WHO admitted that asymptomatic spread of the virus is “very rare.” The WHO official stated (beginning at 1:16), “What portion of asymptomatic individuals actually transmit?…We have a number of reports from countries who are doing very detailed contact tracing, they’re following asymptomatic cases, they’re following contacts, and they not finding secondary transmission onward, it’s very rare. And much of that is not published in the literature. From the papers that are published….it still appears to be rare that an asymptomatic individual transmits onward…But from the data we have, it still seems to be rare that an asymptomatic person actually transmits onward to a secondary individual.”
The following day WHO and the media attempted to put that genie back in the bottle by reporting “Maria Van Kerkhove says she accepts models show up to 40% of infections come from asymptomatic people.” To be clear, the models (which were disastrously wrong) show that, but the real world data shows otherwise, as she stated the previous day. Research and Information on Masks:
Mask wearing is bad for your health. Masks reduce our flow of oxygen and cause a condition called hypoxia or low oxygen levels in the body. Hypoxia can cause heart attacks, strokes, seizures, death and more. Low oxygen levels stress the body resulting in increased cortisol. Cortisol suppresses the immune system rendering people MORE susceptible to illness.
WHO warns that “the wide use of masks by healthy people in the community setting is not supported by current evidence and carries uncertainties and critical risks” PDF
WHO’s most recent recommendations say the following: “Masks can be used either for protection of healthy persons (worn to protect oneself when in contact with an infected individual) or for source control (worn by an infected individual to prevent onward transmission).” They do not recommend mask-wearing in healthy people unless in contact with a sick individual.
Research shows that cloth face coverings are useless at best, dangerous at worst.
OSHA says environment with less than 19.5% oxygen is unsafe. Gases such as CO2 displace oxygen. Wearing a mask for just a few seconds causes CO2 to accumulate and displace oxygen causing oxygen levels to fall below 19%. OSHA says anything below 19.5% is an “imminent threat to health or life.”
The 7 studies CDC uses to justify its mask policy do not support that end. They do not evaluate healthy people. They just hope no one will actually read the studies.
NEW ENGLAND JOURNAL OF MEDICINE – Harvard doctors and scientists “We know that wearing a mask outside health care facilities offers little, if any, protection from infection. Public health authorities define a significant exposure to Covid-19 as face-to-face contact within 6 feet with a patient with symptomatic Covid-19 that is sustained for at least a few minutes (and some say more than 10 minutes or even 30 minutes). The chance of catching Covid-19 from a passing interaction in a public space is therefore minimal. In many cases, the desire for widespread masking is a reflexive reaction to anxiety over the pandemic.”
-N95 masks are designed to protect the wearer from dangerous toxins in the environment. They do not restrict the flow of exhalation or protect anyone else. -Surgical masks are designed to be worn in sterile environments – not around generally. Experts say that they should be changed every 20-30 minutes if worn outside a sterile environment. -Research shows that these masks and face coverings worn outside sterile environments can become germ carriers. They interfere with normal breathing and are neither healthy nor warranted.
While individual studies may suggest masks have an impact, there have been extensive randomized controlled trial (RCT) studies, and meta-analysis reviews of RCT studies, which all show that masks and respirators do not work to prevent respiratory influenza-like illnesses, or respiratory illnesses believed to be transmitted by droplets and aerosol particles.
Either I or a friend was an eyewitness to the following three cases in our little valley in the past 6 weeks: 1) A 70 ish-year-old woman wearing a mask in the Sun Valley, ID post office passed out and hit the floor, hitting her head. 2) A woman wearing a mask in Chateau Drug in Ketchum, ID a week after the above incident had a seizure. 3) Ten days ago, an elderly man walking on the bike path near Sun Valley wearing a mask hunched over saying “I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe.”
Given the very low risk posed to 99% of the public, how can any government entity justify a mask mandate, let alone a state of emergency. Moreover, wouldn’t it be a good thing for all those at low risk to get the virus and be done with it not only for themselves but also because then they would protect those at risk? Isn’t natural herd immunity the BEST outcome?
