  • EVENT: Stop COVID 19 Mandates

No one should be forced to choose between keeping their job and undergoing a medical procedure that violates their bodily autonomy, especially one which lacks long-term data, has inherent risk, and is still only under experimental use authorization. That’s what’s happening to our healthcare workers! We need to stand with them in support. Other businesses will follow suit (if they haven’t already) illegally requiring a vaccine mandate for a product that isn’t FDA approved and has no liability.

  • What Happens When You Experience Stress?

Everyone experiences stress in their daily lives. It’s part of what makes you alive. And while your body’s response to stressors can help you in times of danger, it can also quickly snowball out of control.

What Happens When You Experience Stress?

When faced with a stressful situation, the body releases chemicals and hormones like cortisol to stimulate action. You may experience a rapid heart rate, labored breathing, elevated blood pressure, and tense muscles. This is useful in situations where you may be in immediate danger or you have to act fast.

Many people are saddled with chronic stress in their lives. Unfortunately, your body is simply not designed to withstand the symptoms of stress over the long term. Elevated cortisol levels from stress can wreak havoc on your health, contributing to diabetes, high blood pressure, and a number of other chronic conditions.

Stress can also cause tension headaches. These can keep you from spending quality time with your family and participating in activities you enjoy. That can lead to increased stress, which will compound the problem.

Be Aware of Your Stress Triggers

Some things that seem stressful to you may not cause your best friend to think twice. Identify the situations, people, or times that cause you to feel most stressed. Once you know what these triggers are, work to avoid them when possible.

    Conquer Stress Naturally

Of course, you can’t always avoid stress. Luckily, stress doesn’t have to define you or your mood. Be prepared the next time it comes knocking on your door with one of these seven natural ways to relieve stress.

    1. Reduce Caffeine Intake

Caffeine raises cortisol levels and acts as a stimulant on the body. This can easily exacerbate the symptoms of stress like elevated blood pressure and heart rate. High levels of caffeine can lead to chronically elevated cortisol levels.

    2. Get Moving

Regular exercise is one surefire way to help moderate moods and combat the effects of stress. You don’t have to go all out, either. Simply taking a walk can help regulate your body and return stress levels to normal.

Aim to get around 30 minutes of moderate exercise most days. Don’t beat your self up if you skip a day or two, just work to get back on track.

A side bonus of exercise is that it can help relieve symptoms of some health conditions, like high blood pressure and uncontrolled blood sugar, that are brought on by chronic stress.

    3. Practice Gratitude

Don’t just say thank you, but really learn to appreciate the world around you. Take time to recognize the beauty of nature, appreciate the friends and family you have, and acknowledge the many things you have worked hard to earn.

The simple act of turning your attention to the amazing bounty you are surrounded with every day can help take the edge off when things don’t go quite the way you had hoped. Try making a simple gratitude jar that you can fill throughout the week. Each time you pass it, add a small stone or marble to the jar and say or think of something you are grateful for. As your jar fills up you will have a chance to actually see how much you have to be grateful for.

    4. Try Aromatherapy

Certain smells can make you feel happy, sad, energized, or relaxed. Aromatherapists have known these secrets for many years, but more people are finding the benefits of adding specific scents to their environment.

Soothing lavender or lemon balm are excellent choices to help combat stress. Some people find the uplifting scents of lemon, Bergamot, and other citruses to be helpful as well. If you are unsure about what scent to try, consider using a pre-blended formula. Some companies offer blends designed to soothe, relax, or uplift, and you are sure to find one that works for you.

    5. Take a Deep Breath

Meditation and focused breathing have been shown to reduce stress and lower cortisol levels naturally. Consider learning a basic meditation technique to help regulate your response to stress. If you’re not quite ready to try meditation, deep breathing can also be effective.

    6. Chew Gum

There is evidence that chewing gum can lower cortisol levels, particularly during stressful situations. Since cortisol is responsible for the body’s physical reaction to stress, chewing gum may help return your body to a calmer, more relaxed state. So, the next time you are experiencing a stressful situation, reach for a piece of gum to chew your way to a better mood.

    7. Find Strength in Numbers

Social interaction is a fun and easy way to combat anxiety and depression that can result from feeling stressed. Call a few friends and make plans to get together. And who knows? You may realize things aren’t so bad as you talk them through and lean on your friends for support.

A little stress can be good. Chronic stress, however, can lead to a host of health and other problems. Find your balance by using one of these seven natural ways to relieve stress in your life.

  • The Science of Chiropractic Care, Healing without Drugs or Surgery

Many people say that they are huge “believers” in Chiropractic. Others say “Oh I “don’t believe” in Chiropractic. For those of us who are dedicated to helping patients through chiropractic care, we wouldn’t categorize the practice as something we believe in or don’t believe in….Why? …Because chiropractic is not a value or a religion. Chiropractic is a scientific health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on your health.

Chiropractic services are used most often to treat neuro-musculoskeletal issues, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches. The body and caring for all of its integral parts takes an army of professionals. However, if you understand how specific our bodies are designed, you will turn to a chiropractor, first, for help with most any ailment that arises.

It’s helpful to understand how the spine, nervous system and body work together for your health. The spinal cord and nerves run through the spine, a canal comprised of vertebrae and discs. The vertebrae and nerve areas of the spine are broken into segments. There are 8 neck or cervical nerves, C1-C7, 12 middle back or thoracic nerves, T1-T12, 5 lower back or lumbar nerves, L1-L5, 5 sacral nerves and 1 coccygeal nerve.  The spinal cord is a pathway of nerves each designated for a particular job, either controlling an internal organ or a  body function.  Let’s give you an idea of how integral the spine, nervous system and body are.

The first 2 cervical nerves, C1 and C2, are responsible for the functions of the head and neck.
If you have a headache, dizziness, ear aches, tinnitus, brain fog, colds, allergies, there is likely interference in the nerves in that area.

C3 is responsible for the area of the diaphragm, and if you’re having symptoms like difficulty breathing, chronic fatigue, or anxiety, this may manifest itself as neck pain.

C4 controls the thyroid, and the source of ailments like weight gain, being cold, insomnia, swollen glands.

C5 nerve impingements can cause shoulder pain which ties to craving of sweets, tired or headachy during lags in mealtime, heart palpitations.

Drop down to T4 in your back if you’re experiencing heartburn, gall bladder issues, bloating after meals, trouble with fatty foods.  You may feel upper back pain with these ailments. Even lower to L4 and L5 in your lumbar region, you may be getting knee or ankle pain, oddly a symptom of colon, prostate or uterine issues.

You get the idea. If you have an ailment, chiropractic specialists are healthcare providers that are trained to get to the root of the problem. It’s likely there is an issue relating to proper nerve transmission. We want you to be able to experience healing without drugs or surgery through the benefits of chiropractic care.

So if you believe in something, believe in the value of hard work!  Believe in a higher power if you’d like to!  But when it comes to belief in healthcare, would you say “I believe in medical care” or “I believe in dentists”? You probably wouldn’t find yourself saying that.

Do you believe that you have a nervous system and a spinal column?  Then you need a good family chiropractor.
We “believe” you will be amazed!

  • 2017 Legislative Wrap Up

    2017 WINS
Health Freedom Idaho Members Impacted the Following Legislation:

SB 1182 Re-defining child neglect to include parents who don’t follow conventional medical protocols “Faith-Healing Exemption” <FAILED>
HB 195 returns health care options to allow Chiropractors to adminster IVs. <PASSED>
HB 91 tracking of vaccine status of ADULTS <FAILED>
We had some big wins in the 2017 legislative session but we are already prepping for the bigger fight ahead in 2018. Now is time to get involved and take a stand for the wellness of our children and future generations!

Message from Miste Karlfeldt, Executive Director regarding
SB1050 Requiring Health Dept to Adhere Current Vaccine Exemption Statutes Requirements (instead of allowing them to create their own)
    <FAILED TO BE HEARD>

Idaho’s vaccine exemption form for school attendance. The Idaho Health Department would like parents to believe that Idaho has a no-shots-no-school policy. However, Idaho statues allows vaccine exemptions for daycare and schools. A parent who chooses to avoid some or all of the 68 CDC recommended vaccines for their school aged child, is legally allowed to enroll the child in school (or daycare). Currently, parents are forced to sign IDHW’s mandatory form that demands parents state that their child is more likely to contract a “vaccine preventable disease with specific complication” and that it is negligent for willfully denying your son/daughter the life-saving protection that vaccines offer” in order to enroll their children into school.

A parent choosing to take the legal exemption because of religious reasons is required (by the Health Department’s form) to acknowledge ‘card carrying membership’ to a ‘qualified religious organization’ that opposes vaccines and the parent is then required to list their religious objections.

The Health Department has stepped significantly outside the law that clearly states a parent need only supply a written statement to the schools that they object to vaccines on a religious or philosophical ground without need to clarify or excuse their parental choice.

Leslie Manookian and Miste Karlfeldt, Executive Director of Health Freedom Idaho spoke with Chairman Lee Heider several times over the summer about this very issue.  He whole-heartedly agreed that The Health Department has severely overstepped it bounds.  He agreed to carry a bill for us to clarify within the statute that a form provided by the Department of Health and Welfare did not need to be filled out in order to enroll our children in school.

Health Freedom Idaho went knocking on Legislator’s doors to discuss this situation and we had much support in the Senate Health and Welfare Committee.  Sen. Fred Martin did his homework by calling the schools.  They verified that they were in fact requiring this form and Sen Martin agreed that was outside of the statute.  Our bill, SB 1050, never had a hearing.

Dick Armstrong (Director of Health and Welfare) spent much time with the legislators explaining why he requires this form.  He stated that he uses it to educate the public and feels that it is his duty to do so.  Of course, we believe that is up to the parent to educate themselves while using all of the resources available to them.  The shenanigans that took place to keep this bill from being heard were appalling and included Governor Butch Otter telling Sen Lee Heider not to hear the bill.  Sen Heider decided to drawer the bill that he had once promised to carry.  The people were neither heard nor represented on this issue.

Parents are faced with another year of trying to enroll their children in school without incriminating themselves on the form mandated by the Dept. of Health and Welfare.  Some have decided to homeschool but not everyone has that option.  Many are having to sign this form under duress just to allow their child access to their promised education.

    LOOKING AHEAD

Now that our legislative session has come to a close we look forward to opportunities to educate the public with a desire to build a community of like-minded individuals.  This summer will provide two such opportunities. On June 17, we join more than two dozen other cities with the Children’s March for Humanity.

This family friendly summer event will focus on toxins and our children. During the past 50 years, more than 85,000 industrial chemicals have been registered in the United States.  Many of these chemicals have found their way into children’s environments: in the food they eat, the water they drink, the air they breathe and the products to which they are exposed. Some children may even be exposed to them while still in the womb. Recently a study showed nearly 300 chemicals in the cord blood of American newborns. Alarmingly, the majority of these chemicals are largely unstudied and unregulated until proof of harm is already established.

Here in Idaho a proven neurotoxin, Fluoride is added to community water. Glyphosate, now labeled a carcinogen, is sprayed in our fields adjacent to schools. Its residue is found on our foods, in our vaccines and even in an infant’s formula and mother’s breast milk. Contamination of the environment by man-made and natural toxins is detrimental to our children’s health.

Saturday June 17, In Boise, at Julia Davis Park we hope to bring local businesses, community organizations, professionals and families together to share resources, start dialogue and seek ways to support each other in our desire to create a less toxic environment for our children.

In August, we intend on hosting our second annual Fund-raising Luncheon. This event will allow the Health Freedom community to grow as we are motivated by engaging speakers, encouraged by our growing community and challenged to step out of our comfort zone.

We are doing all we can to protect you and your family – and we need your help.  We are a volunteer organization and rely on member donations to keep the freedom march alive.

We had some big wins in the 2017 legislative session but we are already prepping for the bigger fight ahead in 2018. Now is time to get involved and take a stand for the wellness of our children and future generations!
